Gemma & Aran | Hoi An Vietnam

Destination Wedding

A Message From PTP

This was a week, not just a wedding. Having known Gemma's Mum Lindsey for many years, and having covered their engagement party in London last year, it was so rewarding to be asked to photograph their celebrations out in Vietnam. And being able to squeeze in a holiday with my wife & kids before the wedding made it even more special. The wedding celebrations kicked off a month before when I photographed Gemma having one of her last fittings for her dress in Suzanne Neville's Knightsbridge shop - the start of Gemma's "PTP Love Story".

Then out there we started with a relaxing and fun Beach BBQ party on the Sunday so that both families could meet each other properly. The following evening was a real highlight - a dinner at a local restaurant by the river hosted by Aran's parents. Then the wedding rehearsal on the Tuesday followed by the glorious wedding itself on the Wednesday. Gemma got ready at the wedding venue itself - the Intercontinental in Da'nang up in the mountains north of Hoi An. Aran got ready at his hotel - the Boutique in Hoi An. And I was very fortunate to be helped by a super local photographer - Phong Nguyen - who photographed the boys then helped me until the evening was well underway - thanks again "Skinny"!

The ceremony out on the beachside was beautiful, intimate and fun followed by some hilarious speeches up in the main ballroom. Finally, the party moved down to the hotel's own nightclub for some gharcore after-party dancing until 2am. So much fun, and so easy to photograph - my ideal destination wedding!
