A Message From PTP
So the story goes like this.... I photographed Gemma & Aran's wedding in Danang Vietnam in April 2017 (link below). And at that wedding Frankie & Henry were guests - Frankie & Gemma had been great friends when they were both single and living in Hong Kong. I hit it off immediately with Frankie & Henry as I could tell they lived life to the full and enjoyed a good party (which Gemma & Aran's certainly was!). Fast forward a few months and Henry proposes to Frankie in Myanmar and they have theor engagement party with friends & family at the Oriental Club in London in April last year which they asked me to photograph (link below). Right there and then I knew that, like Gemma & Aran, this was a couple that I wanted in my professional life: fun & professional with a strong sens of family, good morals and an enviable joie de vivre and love of travel - my ideal clients! I was therefore truly honoured to be asked to fly out to Galle Sri Lanka for almost a week to cover their whole wedding celebration. We started off at a cool beach club on the Thursday to welcome all the guests, with Henry's Mum giving a hilarious poem in her welcome speech! On the Friday after a bridal party rehearsal at and recce of the wedding venue, they had organised an amazing fiercely competitive polo match, well organised with branded team shirts and prizes - but instead of on horses it was in motorised tuk-tuks! Total pandemonium and hilarity for 3hours but Henry's team won handsomely and everyone looked forward to the big day on Saturday with renewed energy! On the Saturday I started photographing the boys at another beach club mucking about in the sea, then on to Frankie getting ready with her girls. Throughout the whole day, every time I looked through my camera lens I saw smiling faces, guests filled with love, one surprise after another - from the ceremony having a mixture of Buddhist Sinhalese and Jewish traditions, to local Sri Lankan drummers, dancers & fire-eaters, to individually personalised hand-drawn table place cards - and a party that rocked the dancefloor until well past 1am! No surprise then that everyone badly needed the recovery brunch party on the Sunday at another cool beach club - wonderful food, guest DJ, Henry's family in surprise branded t-shirts (my idea to get them to jump into the pool!) and fireworks at the end. It's difficult to express in a final few words just how much I enjoyed this wedding, the company of their guests and the warmth and hospitality Frankie & Henry in particular have shown me since we first met. It is, put simply, why I will always believe that I am blessed with the best job in the world.
